Texteclair keeps AI text processing on-device

Texteclair uses Chrome's built-in AI APIs for proofreading, rewriting, generation, and prompt completion. Product text processing is performed locally by Chrome's on-device model when the required APIs and model are available.

What Texteclair stores

Texteclair stores extension preferences such as shortcuts, default rewrite presets, and site-specific rewrite defaults in Chrome extension storage.

What Texteclair does not do

• It does not send your writing to a cloud AI service for product functionality.
• It does not expose the Chrome AI executor as a web-accessible resource.
• It does not request broad tab inspection permissions beyond what the extension needs.

Diagnostics and telemetry

Optional error telemetry may be configured by the publisher for diagnostics. When enabled, telemetry is scrubbed before sending and content-loaded modules stay on local logging paths rather than opening direct network transports.

Compatibility

Feature availability depends on the Chrome version, Chrome AI flags, hardware support, language support, and whether Chrome's on-device model has finished downloading.
